Vintaged Bar + Grill goes vegan with a new menu

It might seem a bit strange, but one of the best places to go for a bona fide, 100 percent vegan meal is actually a steakhouse. We’re not pulling your leg – Vintaged Bar + Grill debuted a scrumptious vegan menu earlier in the year and we decided to have a closer look.

In today’s diverse foodie landscape it’s not uncommon to encounter people with vastly different tastes and dietary needs to yourself. Vegetarian and vegan eating is becoming part of the norm, but it can still cause a bit of a hassle when it comes to deciding where to go to eat – especially if you are dining with carnivores. Vintaged Bar + Grill is renowned as one of Brisbane’s finest steakhouses, but in April the restaurant added a whole new dynamic to its offering by introducing a dedicated vegan menu.

Real talk – this menu looks so good it might convince a few friends to opt out of the steak, with three entrées, mains and desserts to choose from. Starters include the likes of truffle white polenta and exotic mushrooms, crispy kale and balsamic puffs as well as miso roasted eggplant, toasted sushi rice and mustard greens. Mains offer up the likes of chana masala with spiced basmati rice, mango chutney and poppadoms, brick pastry vegetable roulade, carrot puree and hazelnut roasted Dutch carrots. If you can squeeze it in, we suggest saying yes to dessert simply to try the apple and rhubarb crumble with cinnamon sorbet and anglaise rhubarb gel. The finest vegan offering in town is at a steak restaurant – who’d have thought?
