Eat your way around the new Urbane Markets Ipswich launching this weekend
The early-morning excursion to our local farmers markets will always have a place in our hearts, but we’d be kidding ourselves if we said we didn’t also love the energetic vibe of a night market. A new addition to the night market scene is arriving this weekend, with Urbane Markets Ipswich celebrating its grand opening tonight in Ipswich. Brisbane’s finest food trucks, market stalls, live entertainment and atmosphere – it’s the kind of event you’ll want to stay up late for.
Tonight the Swifts Sports Club in Booval will undergo a transformation. Don’t fret, sports lovers – the club is graciously playing host to an exciting permanent nighttime hub for the local community to feast and frolic. Conceived by Jason van Hunnik and Anthony Bailey of Urbane Markets Group with a built-in ethos for providing the best food and fun to families and the local community, the all-ages market will showcase the best of Ipswich and southeast Queensland’s melting pot of culture. After officially opening with tonight’s launch, Urbane Markets Ipswich will settle into a weekly routine every Friday and Saturday night, incorporating entertainment from musicians, buskers and street performers, in addition to a rotating selection of food vendors from around Ipswich, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
The launch weekend is looking to kick of proceedings in style, with a who’s who of famous food wagons pumping the breaks and firing up the kitchen equipment. If you like variety, your head will be spinning from all of the options on hand. Punters will be treated to a smorgasbord of eats from the likes of fried-chicken fanatics Wing Fix, fresh slices from Zero81 Pizza & Pasta, vegan mouthfuls from MooFree Burgers, moreish morsels from Uncle Phil’s Dumpling Envy and colourful and cool desserts from Dippin’ Dots. What’s more is that’s not even half of the vendors on the bill, plus upwards of 30 stalls will be showcasing handmade items from local makers, reptile exhibits and more. In the coming weeks the site will also start hosting a farmers market on Saturday mornings, so early birds can still get in on the action.
Urbane Markets Ipswich is launching tonight from 4:00 pm. Head to the Event Guide for more information.
