Paddington’s Urban Grind finds new owners from Brew
A place where neighbours of near and far suburban streets come together as a community, where family tales are shared over coffee, kids get special cups of thick hot chocolate and the puppy laps up a bowl of water in the dog-parking quarters – Urban Grind revels in providing a space for friendly folk to come together in an intimate, comfortable setting.
For ten years, owners Morgan and Rachel Daly have started each day at Urban Grind with a smile, bringing a sense of community, of good deeds and great coffee to their original locale in West End and current Paddington milieu. However last weekend saw the local duo pass the keys over to Brett Roland of Brew Cafe and Wine Bar, so they can commence a new journey, chasing other dreams. As an Urban Grind local and good friend to the pair, Brett has stepped in to continue the Urban Grind vision, with the name staying the same.
Having taken the reins last weekend, Brett is slowly implementing a Brew-style food experience to the Urban Grind kitchen, with breakfast, lunch and afternoon tapas menus. Of a morning, sample the likes of avo toast or haloumi with a poached egg and slow-roasted tomatoes on ciabatta accompanied by a Di Bella Nero coffee, while cold roast duck salad, daily sandwiches and Mediterranean-inspired tapas feature as the afternoon draws closer.
Brett is also planning to extend the space and there’s a liquor licence application in, so fingers crossed we’ll soon be sipping crisp wines and craft beers amongst a dreamy Paddington sunset.
