U&I Espresso brings Dramanti coffee to Ashgrove
The community hotspot that was Stop Sixteen cafe in Ashgrove has changed hands, with young gun Sacha Muchall opening U&I Espresso. After studying business management, Sacha worked for a boutique roaster, where there were always 15 single origins on the go. It was there Sacha developed a love and an appreciation for coffee.
Continuing down the hospitality route, he managed everything from Spanish to modern-Australian restaurants, before settling in at Alderley favourite Willow & Spoon, with owner Keith showing him the cafe entrepreneur ropes. With the great support of family, friends and the local community, Sacha has begun to shape the old Stop Sixteen space into his own.
Now serving local Dramanti coffee, U&I Espresso sends the 19-20-20 house blend – a medium-bodied, three-bean roast with notes of tropical fruits and blueberry, apple-like acidity and a sweet finish – through the grinder. A single-origin blend is also on hand, changing every week or fortnight depending on supply, with the current roast the Brazilian Santa Ines. At U&I Espresso, you will also find a homemade honey-infused chai tea on oat milk and iced tea of fresh lemon and lime juice, English Breakfast tea and citrus fruits to finish. Loose-leaf teas and in-house hot chocolates are also on offer, with soy, oat and Zymil milks available.
Expanding the cafe’s food range is a seasonal menu of quick cabinet items and sit-down offerings to enjoy across breakfast, brunch and lunch. Sample the Honeyed Granola with Lemon Mascarpone and Guava Jam or the Quesadillas with Avocado, Tomato, Coriander, Cheddar and Lemon next time you pop by for your morning fix.
