Take high tea the native way at Tukka, West End

While a high tea outing is usually a dainty, delicate afternoon affair, Tukka Restaurant in West End has put an Australian twist on the traditional, hosting a Native High Tea this weekend.

Held on the last Sunday of each month, the Tukka Native High Tea focuses on sweet foods made of fresh local ingredients and Australian teas like Wattleseed, Anisata and Lemon Myrtle. Nibble on the likes of Lemon Myrtle Pumpkin Scones with rosella jam and chantilly cream and Profiteroles filled with White Chocolate and Pepperberry.

Renowned for highlighting regional produce and supporting local farmers, Tukka incorporates native herbs, spices and berries into its meals to create a true Australian cuisine experience. Those with a sweet tooth will lean towards the Quandong Fairy Cakes and Dark Chocolate Macarons filled with Davidson Plum Jam at the Native High Tea. While the savoury-inclined will enjoy three types of finger sandwiches, with fillings of kangaroo and bush tomato relish, cucumber and pepperberry, and Anisata salmon gravlax, goats curd and lillputs. Bookings are a must.
