Tuck into breakfast at Saabi on Manson

Nestled amongst the leafy streets of suburban Hendra, Saabi on Manson is a bustling community cafe which has been completely transformed from its origins as a corner store.

Owners Lauren Jordan and Amanda Flynn were looking for a house in the area when they discovered this real estate gem and decided to open a cafe. Since then Saabi has become a popular meeting place for locals thanks to its warm Veneziano coffee, welcoming atmosphere and a simple menu of tasty breakfast and lunch options – displayed on a quaint blackboard, these range from hearty breakfast rolls to homemade soups.

Perhaps the most mouth-watering options are the range of sweet treats available. Take a peek at the desserts on display and prepare to be impressed with the range of delicate cakes and cupcakes – including the decadent Saabi’s Sin, a slice created from chocolate, caramel, coconut and hazelnut paste. All cakes are homemade and whipped up on site in the compact kitchen that doubles as a serving area.

With its early opening hours, breakfast is the peak period at Saabi, where the star attraction is their tasty twist on the traditional breakfast muffin – with a peach, oat and cranberry combination it is both deliciously moist and filling. On any given day the small cafe is overflowing with customers, who often spill out onto the benches that line the footpath. More seating is also provided with the wooden benches and cushioned crates that accompany the shaded courtyard. This dog-friendly cafe also provides water and shade if you want to bring along your man’s best friend.
