Tree Cycle Coffee Shop opens in Hamilton

A new specialty coffee house has popped up at Portside Wharf, bringing Colombian coffee to Hamilton Harbour.

Any coffee drinker who takes their caffeine source seriously will understand the importance of the bean in their daily cup of joe. These tiny little treasures can make all the difference, altering the flavour profile and catering to the drinker’s taste. Passionate coffee trader Andres Rodriguez makes the trek to Colombia at least twice a year to develop close working relationships with local farmers who have been growing coffee for generations. Via his coffee import business Crop del Monte, Andres is able to buy direct and give these battling farmers a better return for their produce. In a fortunate twist of fate for Brisbane coffee aficionados, Andre opened his first cafe alongside business partners Ana Gutierrez and Victor Diaz last month, bringing quality Colombian coffee to local cups.

But Hamilton’s new Tree Cycle Coffee Shop isn’t just about the coffee. The venue’s head chef Richard Tran (previously of Cove Bar and Dining in South Bank) is also whipping up an interesting menu of Asian fusion and classic dishes, from Mooloolaba prawn salad with soba noodles to gravlax salmon on scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. Everything except the Crust & Co. Artisan Baking bread is made in-house, from the granola in the Bircher muesli to the treats lining the cabinet. Tree Cycle Coffee Shop is also focused on providing healthy breakfast and lunch options, with items such as smoothies made on almond milk or coconut water, cold-pressed juices made from fresh local fruit and salads such as the kale with brown lentils, chia seeds and Mount Tamborine haloumi.
