Tonic Espresso opens for tapas and martinis

Hidden gem of a coffee shop Tonic Espresso has acquired a liquor licence, launching the renewed Tonic Espresso + Bar this Friday evening.

The urbane vision of adjoining Tonic Design, Tonic Espresso + Bar will continue its usual cafe trade until 3:00 pm on weekdays, switching over its offerings to tapas and cocktails of an afternoon. Set back from the bustling main Fortitude Valley streets, Tonic is a relaxed locale for after-work drinks or a drinking den to dedicate a few hours as the sun sets on a Saturday.

Behind the bar, tipplers will find 12 boutique wines and champagnes and 14 craft beers and ciders, including Little Creatures, Angry Man, Burleigh Brewing and Stone & Wood. Utilising the coffee machine, three varietals of espresso martinis will be amongst the cocktail list. Also playing on the cafe’s name, gin will be a staple spirit, with Portland-based Aviation American Gin amongst the range of juniper-infused liquors –which will be steeped with garnishes matched to each individual gin. On the food front, the Tonic Tapas menu will see Egyptian-spiced Dukkah Ciabatta and Sicilian Olives come together with Chargrilled Tomatoes and Organic Vegetable Chips. Collaborating with local restaurants, Tonic’s food menu will also see pizzas from Capri Cafe Bar, dumplings from Ann Gyoza and pork buns and spring rolls from Oriental Yum Cha Restaurant join the tapas offerings. Head along on Friday or Saturday this weekend to check out the new selection.
