It’s cocktail time – Heya Bar unveils its new tropical hideaway Tiki Tiki Gai
When it comes to our ideal holidays, a luxurious tropical getaway is right at the top of our list. Unfortunately we are still chained to our desks for now, but Heya Bar is giving us the chance to indulge in part of our fantasies with Tiki Tiki Gai – a brand-new tropical-themed hideaway bar boasting a Polynesian and pan-Asian twist. If you’ve had a rough week and are craving a cocktail, we’d like to remind you that tiki time is fast approaching.
When we refer to tiki time, we are talking about the time when you shed your inhibitions and give in to the good times. Heya Bar is all about having a good time – which is why it has decided to embrace tiki time and make it all the time. Seeing a lack of representation of rum-based drinks and tiki atmosphere in Brisbane, the team at Heya Bar recently decided to give the area’s cocktail scene a shake up. Heya Bar’s secluded second bar (formerly a dedicated whisky parlour) has been transformed into a tropical oasis, adorned with a playful array of Polynesian artefacts and antique island accoutrements. After taking on advice from several tiki aficionados and undergoing an intensive research period, the team has managed to make the most out of the limited space.
A tiki bar isn’t a tiki bar without cocktails – thankfully the accomplished hands at Heya have the drinks sorted. Tiki Tiki Gai has a comprehensive list of rum-based cocktails mixed with an array of tropical ingredients. If you doubt the commitment to tiki time, just have a look at the names of these concoctions – Uke Lei Lei, Rock A Hula Baby, King Kamehamha and Shaka, just to name a few. There will also be a share cocktail option for those eager to party with friends. Tiki Tiki Gai is open from tonight, Thursday April 6, so make sure to shake your tiki to Heya Bar early.
