The Street Photographer: Bungalow 4171
Bungalow 4171 came as a welcome breakfast addition to the eastside when it opened a few months ago. While diners arrived in excited flurries, a relaxed ambience continued to emanate from the calm cream facade. Blending shabby vintage chairs with decadent teal and gold wallpaper, Bungalow 4171 combines old-world charm with a touch of Art Deco glam. Cream tiles lining the wall behind the counter mimic ornate plaster ceilings, while precious peacock features spill out of a vase. A row of wooden deck chairs face the street outside, with armrests sufficient for holding small plates of homemade goodies and pots of tea. Kids are welcome and will enjoy the Kiddliwinks menu and milkshakes served in retro glasses with striped paper straws, while grown-ups devour the rustic, home-style meals and Genovese coffee.
