The round-up: top picks for New Year’s Eve

Whether you’re planning an epic evening of cocktails and sparkle, hope to catch a live band, or plan to keep things casual with a low-key dinner, we’ve rounded up our favourite New Year’s Eve celebrations happening around Brisbane in 2015.

Fortitude Valley
Fortitude Valley’s Eleven Rooftop Bar is offering guests a five-hour package boasting continuous canapes, champagne, wine, beer and cocktails plus Black Jack tables and DJs until dawn, not to mention some of the best fireworks vantage spots in the entire city. Cloudland’s Diamonds Are Forever Party boasts a host of James Bond-themed entertainment and plenty of martinis (shaken, not stirred). Dutch Courage Officers’ Mess is hosting a Midnight By The Sea party, with unlimited canapes, beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and music courtesy of DJ Popshelf. Spicers Balfour Hotel is the spot for good nosh with gourmet selections on offer from the Balfour Kitchen’s a la carte menu. Alfred & Constance will be hosting a plethora of parties throughout the venue’s main area and tiki bar, while Limes Hotel will be celebrating with a wild Copacabana party.

The Triffid’s beer garden will be pumping with DJs, food and plenty of drink, while The Brightside is bringing the noise with bands covering the songs of Green Day, Blink 182, All Time Low and My Chemical Romance. Black Bear Lodge has a line-up of great live music planned, with The Gooch Palms, Skegss and Rolls Bayce set to play. The Foundry is hosting the Common People Reunion party, with DJ sets from The John Steel Singers and Common People DJs. Watch in awe as can-can girls high kick and performers hang from silks at Prestige Bar’s Moulin Rouge-themed soiree, head to the Woolly Mammoth Masquerade Ball for a themed night of fun, or hit up Prohibition to catch international DJ Sam Feldt, plus prohibition-style dancers, live sax and make up and hair styling for the ladies.

South Bank
The Fox Hotel is set to be a great place to party this year – with a massive Mexican-themed party taking over the whole venue. Don a sombrero and party in the Margaritaville bar or upstairs on the Cancun Rooftop. The Jetty at South Bank is turning up the extravagance with a French Riviera party complete with a five-hour drinks and canapes package plus beats by DJ Cool Hand Luke. Head to Cove Bar & Dining for an adults-only evening, complete with hot and cold canapes and delicious cocktails. The South Bank Beer Garden is an inexpensive spot to catch the fireworks with two a la carte dinner sittings, and Popolo will also be offering some great packages for the evening, with dinner service followed closely by a cocktail party. Hoo Ha Bar will be partying with a comprehensive wine, beer and food offering, while Soleil Pool Bar will be celebrating until dawn at its Havana Nights Party, complete with pop-up cocktail bars, DJs and roving entertainment. Riverlife near the waterfront will also be hosting a glamorous New Year’s Eve Ball for those looking to dress up.

West End
Pig ‘N’ Whistle West End will be breaking in the new venue in style with a New Year’s Eve bash with a scrumptious dinner, live music and DJs. Cobbler will be hosting a Mad Men-themed party this New Year’s Eve, with some exquisite cocktails being mixed all night. Exclaim ‘Happy New Beer!’ at Brisbane Brewing Co. with a food and drinks package offering that will leave you satisfied. Lock’n’Load Bistro will be hosting a three course dinner and a two hour beverage package in its tropical garden, while The Bearded Lady will be partying until dawn, with tunes ably supplied by 4ZZZ Nowhere to Run DJs. The Milk Factory will be hosting a New Year’s Eve gig with performances by Major Leagues and Cheers G’Day, while The Catchment Brewing Co will be extending trading hours for those looking for a casual spot to celebrate.

Brisbane City
Jade Buddha and Shadow Lounge on Eagle Street will be hosting a lavish soiree for its Champagne New Years Eve party, offering mouth-watering food options, prizes for best dressed and one of the best spots to view the fireworks. Customs House will be hosting an evening of fine food and Veuve Cliquot on the terrace overlooking the Brisbane River. Brooklyn Standard is bringing some NYC fun to Brisbane City with its NYE Block Party – Eagle Lane will be filled with live music, a 70s disco and American street eats from Pizzantica and Red Hook. Over at e’cco bistro, diners will be treated to a six-course dining experience by head chef Simon Palmer. Bavarian Bier Cafe’s NYE Carnivale is shaping up to be a great spot to ring in the new year, with live DJs, a la carte dining and free-flowing beer. Saké will be serving up a seven-course set menu from 9:00 pm, while Riverbar & Kitchen’s Summer Nights party boasts tons of finger food, craft beer, Australian wines and cocktails. Navala Churrascaria will be hosting an epic white new year’s party, complete with Brazilian dancers, DJs and a tennis court.

Suburbs
The Hamilton Hotel on Kingsford Smith Drive will be hosting a white affair, with white garbed patrons enjoying glowing high bars, snow, glow sticks, UV Lights and white strobes. Darling & Co in Paddington will be hosting One Last Bite – a final long lunch for the year featuring free-flowing, unlimited Veuve Clicquot from 1:00 pm. Portside Wharf will be a hub of New Year’s Eve activity, with two fireworks displays, live music throughout the precinct and plenty of dining options – Moda’s Cruise Control Party and the Venice Beach party at Byblos are two winning options. Gusto Da Gianni will be offering a set menu offering in addition to some great live music. The Story Bridge Hotel will be turning on the fun for it’s Mad Hatter’s Garden Party, while Catbird Seat Bistro will be hosting a gourmet, four-course dinner with oysters on arrival.
