The year is slowly reaching its end, which means the time has come to celebrate the best of the best when it comes to Brisbane’s eating and drinking destinations. If you’ve discovered a new coffee haunt, cheap dining den or tipple temple, The Weekend Edition’s EAT/drink Awards is the perfect opportunity to see that the venue gets its due props. Before voting begins, have a quick look at the list of winners and must-try venues from 2014 and make sure you’ve experienced what they have to offer.
The newbies are always the most talked about venues on the EAT/drink Awards list – heralded as the 2014’s Best New Bar was cocktail destination Black Bird Bar & Grill on Eagle Street, while cafe lovers tabbed Billykart Kitchen as joint winner of Best Cafe, Best New Cafe and Best Place For Breakfast. Ben’s Burgers picked up the award for Best New Restaurant and Best Place For Tasty Cheap Eats. Coffee lovers agreed that Campos Coffee in Fortitude Valley was the premier java spot, and fine-dining aficionados were fond of ARIA. Popular Damian Griffiths venue Alfred & Constance was awarded Best Bar, while Gerard’s Bistro was picked as Best Restaurant. The Eat Street Markets won the award for Best Place For Dinner and Botanica in Red Hill won Best Place For Lunch, thanks to its ever-changing selection of salads and sweet treats.
