The Pasta Cruiser

The Pasta Cruiser dishes up Italian street food

Brisbane’s street food fleet is growing slowly but steadily, with a new addition now bringing fresh pasta to the twists and turns of the river city.

The foodie scene is continuing to blossom in Brisbane – it’s there in the quirky little bars popping up in the city’s backstreets, in the inspired cafes rolling up the garage doors and creaking open the shipping containers, and now too in the growing fleet of street food vendors. Just last week, new food truck The Pasta Cruiser flung open its windows, bringing wholesome Italian flavours to the city’s current mobile offerings. Just a few months ago, first-time food entrepreneur Neil Gladwin saw the opportunity to expand Brisbane’s street food scene and abandoned his former career in mining and finance to join forces with local pasta factory owner, Jamie Larson. The result is a fragrant Italian kitchen on wheels.

The Pasta Cruiser joins Wandering Elephant, The Iron Ladies, Oi!Taco, The Bun Mobile and Cake Kiosk to form a diverse street food fleet sure to give our southern allies a run for their money. This latest addition invites noshers to select a pasta and sauce combination of their choosing, proffering options like classic bolognese, olive oil with chilli, tomato with chorizo and chilli, and roasted pumpkin with fetta and sun-dried tomatoes. For cool relief, there’s Sydney’s famous Pat and Stick’s ice-cream sandwiches, as well as Hank’s Gourmet Beverages root beer and black cherry soda. If you haven’t already spotted The Pasta Cruiser’s black-and-orange belly weaving its way through Brisbane’s streets, keep an eye on the Facebook and Twitter channels to track down its daily whereabouts.
