Not a drill – The Mason Baker is installing Emergency Cake Boxes across the city

When you read the words “free cake”, your adrenaline levels may start to spike. The same will most likely happen to your blood sugar levels when you get your hands on The Mason Baker’s jarcakes, which are up for grabs – for free – in a Banksy-inspired edible art activation happening throughout October. From today, Tuesday October 6, The Mason Baker crew will be installing Emergency Cake Boxes across the city, resembling typical fire extinguishers but featuring a flavoursome prize behind the glass – mouth-watering jarcakes. Absolutely smashing.

The brain behind the sweet Emergency Cake Boxes initiative and founder of The Mason Baker, James Willis, created the treat-filled treasure hunt as a way to put a smile on Brisbane locals’ dials after what we can all rightfully call a rough year. The cakes, which come in delicious flavours like salted caramel, chocolate ganache and strawberries and cream, will be stashed inside bright-red Emergency Cake Boxes that are set to appear in secret spots around Brisbane, just waiting for sweet tooths to smash them open to sample some of the good stuff.

So, how do you get a taste of these delectable treats? It’s a piece of cake! All you have to do is follow The Mason Baker’s Instagram page, wait for the dessert-loving crew to reveal the next Emergency Cake Box location, then slip on your trainers and run, don’t walk, as fast as you can! Score your free cake by pushing the emergency button (just make sure you’re at the right box), and just like that, your day has been sweetened! Make haste to The Mason Baker’s Instagram page for more details!
