Tucked away on Racecourse Road is a charming space that fuses traditional Persian cuisine and design with a warm cafe atmosphere, offering breakfast and lunch options for dine-in and takeaway.

The bustling thoroughfare that is Racecourse Road has undergone some exciting changes in recent months, with a swag of new eateries opening up near where the road meets Kingsford Smith Drive. A new retail development has yielded fruit in the form of The Little Persian Cafe, a vibrant and comfy nook that aims to serve something a bit different to the usual cafe fare. If the name didn’t give it away, The Little Persian Cafe serves Persian food, with an eye-catching fit-out created by The Design Firm. A pattern tiled feature wall sets off the space, with coffee facilities and seating filling out the rest of the intimate interior.

The menu offers a range of Persian delights, with something to cater for nearly every taste and hunger level. A small breakfast offering of classic choices makes way for a substantial lunch menu, which packs the likes of dips, Persian stews, rice dishes, charcoal kebabs, burgers and wraps. Popular choices include the chenjeh kebab (boasting lamb backstrap marinated in onions, yoghurt, olive oil and spices then cooked over a specialised charcoal grill), khoreshte fesenjoon stew (chicken cooked in pomegranate molasses, walnuts and sautéed onions) and the sabzi polo maahi (fresh salmon cooked on charcoals and served with herbed rice). The Little Persian Cafe also serves a range of delicious teas and Montville Coffee, as well as specialty Persian drinks.
