The Foraging Quail takes flight in New Farm

Named for a small bird that dwells within woodlands and forests, foraging for delicious foodstuffs, The Foraging Quail is the creation of chef and owner Minh Le – and is the newest dining destination to join New Farm’s growing assemblage.

Drifting from the open kitchen that lies along the back wall of The Foraging Quail, the aromas of fresh, locally sourced ingredients converge to greet you as you enter the new restaurant’s doors. Minh Le – the former head chef of Deer Duck Bistro in Auchenflower – occupies the venue’s shiny new kitchen, where he creates a degustation menu that is best shared amongst friends and accompanied by carefully curated wine selections.

Inside the space, contemporary dark decor stands to attention against a white print-embellished wall, fresh flowers dot countertops, candles softly illuminate dining tables and large suspended lamps hang from the ceiling’s centre. Local denizens can indulge in Asian-inspired share-plate offerings made from organic and sustainably sourced produce, followed by a selection of fanciful desserts. Then, if your abdomen will permit you the space, chase your meal with cheese from Tamborine Mountain and a decadent cocktail.
