There is no shortage of street-style food being exchanged at the markets around Brisbane and with so many options, how is a hungry market goer suppose to choose where to eat?

Thanks to the pace of contemporary life, street food stepped in to satisfy life on the run. Now The Fat Shed has also stepped in to show us not to take things to seriously. Playing on the American saying ‘bigger is better’ The Fat Shed is a culinary gem putting it’s take on beloved Amercian comfort food.

Sue Harding’s regular gig is as head chef at Fortitude Valley’s Alfredo’s Pizzeria, but together with wife Amanda Johnson on the business side of things at The Fat Shed, they have their sights set on markets as well as catering and functions. With menu items like the Ferrero Rocher cold pressed coffee milkshake topped with chantilly, Hershey’s coco, fairy floss, candied nuts and Ferrero Rocher, The Fat Shed is sure to be noticed.

The weekend menu is always changing but you can always expect to see milkshakes on the menu alongside a couple of savoury choices as well as one or two sweet treats. Try the the salmon and creme fraiche bagel with preserved lemon, capers, rocket and maple butter or the Pork Hoagie Slider with smoked applewood pulled pork, tangy slaw, jalapeno jack cheese, apple sauce and crackling.

To meet your sweet cravings head-on, The Fat Shed whip up an amazing Nutella ice-cream sandwich with double chocolate chip Nutella biscuits or the ‘healthy’ choice is the gluten-free pancakes with strawberries and mascapone (yes the strawberries make it healthy!)

Stop by and see the girls at the Red Hill Farmers Market and the Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Markets and feast on one or, in the American interests of ‘overdoing it’, a few of their mouthwatering specialities. With all the intriguing and delicious options, American street food has never been so enticing!
