Brats, brews and beer yoga on offer at Woolloongabba’s The Brat Cave

If you – like us – have found yourself craving a snack in the Valley or on Caxton Street after a few libations, the Brat Haus is practically your second home. An emporium of delicious German bratwurst, knackwurst, kranskis, schnitzel and beer, Brat Haus has long been ensuring bellies are full and smiles are wide, and now the Germanic goodness is coming to Woolloongabba with a new (wunder)bar. The Brat Cave will be slinging fresh brats and cold beers from today – and yes, there will be yoga.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to call father and son duo Steve and Ben Crick and business partner Scott Leslie Brisbane’s very own Brat Pack. As the brains behind Brat Haus, the trio has been serving perfectly grilled bratwurst and other Bavarian fare from their Fortitude Valley and Caxton Street locations. Seeking to make better use of their expansive warehouse location in Woolloongabba, the Brat Haus boys have converted the space into a new bar and grill spot – The Brat Cave. To transform the warehouse into their desired drinking den, Steve, Ben and Scott shifted the cold rooms, scratch-built a bar and spruced up the walls with a colourful mural inspired by graffiti-coated segments of the Berlin Wall. The work has resulted in a cozy space for patrons to relax in a carefree atmosphere, where quality meat and exceptional beer is the main focus.

If you are already a fan of the offering at the other brat-tastic locations, you will have plenty of old favourites to enjoy plus a few new choices to entice your tastebuds. In addition to the classic grilled brats, cheese kranskis and spicy knackwurst, punters can tuck into the likes of slow-cooked pork belly rolls, vegan wurst, garlic bread, toasted ham and cheese sandwiches and Buffalo wings. Over at the bar, beer is king, with taps pouring brews from Young Henrys plus Spaten lager and Franziskaner wheat beer. Craft bottles and tins are also available from the likes of Mountain Goat, Stone & Wood, Maisel’s Weisse, Hawkers and Urban Craft Brewing Co. Enjoying a beer is already pretty relaxing, but imagine pairing it with yoga! The Brat Cave will host weekly beer yoga sessions, where an experienced yogi will take you through some stretches that incorporate the signature beer yoga move – ‘raise beverage to mouth’.
