Birkdale’s brunch scene sprouts a new arrival in The Bloom Room Cafe

It’s no coincidence that The Bloom Room officially opens its doors today, Monday September 3 – the first Monday of spring. The newest arrival from the Venzin Group is a charming flower-adorned locale, which might be one of the prettiest in the hospitality group’s portfolio. With a menu of Instagram-worthy eats, colourful beverages and a manicured fit-out to match, Birkdale’s new blossom is more than just a horticulturalist’s dream hideaway.

As we rise from our winter hibernation and bask once again in the warm rays of spring, we immediately seek out the closest source of coffee and brunch. Birkdale’s The Bloom Room Cafe has emerged from its own chrysalis of construction at the perfect time – revealing its positively adorable cafe space, born from the mind of seasoned hospo presence Giorgina Venzin (Pawpaw, Piggy Back, Sundays Cafe) and her partner Chris Hollingsworth. Giorgina has undertaken a homecoming of sorts – returning to the Redlands where she grew up to inject some new life into the local brunch scene. Designed to offer a different feel to the Venzin Group’s other venues, The Bloom Room Cafe hones in on a tasteful European aesthetic inspired by the cafes of London and Paris. Flower arrangements adorn the walls and hang from the ceiling, imbuing the intimate space with the charm of perpetual springtime.

The Bloom Room Cafe’s menu continues the creative Euro lean, with a finely pruned menu of colourful all-day breakfast and lunch morsels on offer. The likes of bubble and squeak, English benedicts with dill hollandaise, and bangers and mash sit side by side with sticky-date waffles with almond crumb and toffee sauce, potato hash with green-pea hummus, and peanut-butter panna cotta. Giorgina and Chris are looking to establish The Bloom Room as the go-to spot for caffeine aficionados, serving cups of Veneziano coffee with separate blends designed for milk and black drinkers. Beyond coffee, the drinks list also harbours colourful superfood lattes, cold-pressed juices, smoothies and eye-catching fizzes, which come topped with fairy floss.
