Here at The Weekend Edition, we live by the mantra ‘Sleep In. Slow Down. Enjoy.’ Living his life by a similar set of rules, British designer Joshua Renouf has designed a bedside companion that wholly embraces that concept – The Barisieur alarm clock and coffee brewer. First, it begins with establishing a pre-bed ritual to help improve sleeping patterns. Before going to sleep each night, instead of simply flicking a switch to turn on an alarm clock, the user loads the unit in preparation for the next day – a nightly activity that will alert the body that it is time to sleep.
Come morning, instead of being woken by the ghastly bleeping of a traditional alarm clock, you are instead woken by the gentle whirring of the stainless steel ball bearings that boil the water through induction heating, accompanied by the welcome smell of a fresh pour-over brew. And if you prefer your morning coffee white, there is even a cooled slot for a dash of milk, as well as storage for sugar and extra coffee grounds.
