Try traditional boiled bagels from The Bagel Boys
With American food fever still lingering in the air, the growing availability of The Bagel Boys’ traditional boiled bagels in Brisbane is more than pleasing. Offering 11 different types of bagels, The Bagel Boys are turning heads with plentiful choices and quality of product.
Boasting an absolute likeness to the traditional boiled then baked bagels of trendsetter New York, The Bagel Boys’ bagels are dense yet soft and baked fresh every day. Void of preservatives, artificial flavours and colourings, these wholesome doughy discs are the creation of friends Ian Taylor and Ben Hart. Having met 13 years ago while working at the Hinchinbrook Island Resort, Ian and Ben combined their passion and drive and branched out on their own. Starting out in Noosa, they made the move to Brisbane earlier this year, now supplying their delicious rounds to more than 30 cafes, delis, resorts and restaurants across the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
A recent addition to the Sourced Grocer larder (and menu), The Bagel Boys bagels come in bags of blueberry, cinnamon and raisin, soy and linseed, poppy seed, sesame seed and rye. You can also pick up your bagel needs at Jan Power’s Farmers Market at Brisbane Powerhouse and in the city on Wednesdays, Mitchelton’s monthly market and at Rocklea, where decadent options of onion, garlic and jalapeño bagels can be filled to eat on the spot.
Try The Reuben of pastrami, Swiss cheese, spiced red cabbage, pickles and Russian dressing or the Smoked Salmon Classic of Tasmanian salmon, cream cheese, rocket, capers, onion, lemon and black pepper. Simple schmears also feature on the market menu, with the boys even creating a gluten-free bagel for the wheat-unfriendly.
