Fancy a specific drop? TextWine is your own personal sommelier
Sometimes wines are hit and miss. Some will make your tastebuds do a little happy dance and linger in your memory long after the last sip whilst others are destined to be erased. If you have ever experienced the pain of falling in love with a wine at a restaurant but have then forgotten the name of it when you went to find it again (possibly because you enjoyed it a little too hard) or you want to relive a special memory with a particular drop but have no idea where to find it, you need TextWine in your life.
TextWine is a brilliant new mobile concept for wine lovers where you can take a photo of a bottle of wine and they will scour their well-established networks to find it and send you the best price. If you accept, your card is charged and the wine will be on its merry way to you without an online shopping cart in sight. Essentially, it’s like having your own personal sommelier mate who has all the right connections. What’s the catch? There isn’t one. After signing up for $10 (which comes off your first order) you will immediately receive a welcome text so you can save the number (in your favourites) and start texting wines you would like a price on straight away. The best part? Delivery is free and there’s no minimum order.
TextWine is powered by The Local Drop, a specialist wine purveyor that has been unearthing the goods for private and corporate clients globally for five years. After receiving hundreds of requests for specific wines, co-founder Jagdev Singh thought it best to utilise their existing networks and establish a dedicated mobile platform run by industry professionals. The intention is to deliver a kind of personal service that is often lost with online shopping so each and every text is responded to personally. TextWine isn’t just about high-end varieties, of course they do that too, but for the majority of users it’s about stocking up on your favourite wine from the restaurant you visited that one time or reliving a special moment or celebration with a hard-to-find drop. So far, Jagdev is yet to receive a request they’ve been unable to meet, even if it means calling on contacts overseas to source on their behalf. Challenge accepted?
