Dancing in the street – beloved block party Teneriffe Festival announces its return

In a year where it seems that events are being postponed left and right, a bright spot emerges to salvage the remnants of our social calendar. Goodwill Projects – the crew behind some of Brisbane’s most beloved weekend markets – has taken up the task of resurrecting Teneriffe Festival, announcing its imminent return on Saturday October 23. This year’s festival will bring the flavours of the world to Teneriffe’s streets, creating a country-hopping culinary experience courtesy of the area’s killer cadre of eateries, local food trucks and pop-up bars.

There’s nothing like a street festival – the aroma of street food emanating from every corner, live music floating through the air and all corners of the community congregating to celebrate in the name of neighbourhood spirit. The ongoing pandemic has forced these sorts of events to be few and far between, but soon one of Brisbane’s most popular gatherings – the Teneriffe Festival – will return to get locals feasting, drinking, shopping and dancing once again. Teneriffe Festival will take over Vernon Terrace on Saturday October 23, filling the promenade with an array of eating options, pop-up bars, art displays and live-music stages.

This year, Teneriffe Festival will look to give folks a taste of worldly delights, with a fleet of food trucks delivering a globe-spanning array of street eats to offset the ongoing travel restrictions. The festival’s Tastes of Teneriffe program will also return this year, with local eateries setting up festive terraces where attendees can sample signature dishes from the suburb’s best. Like always, guests can expect plenty of craft beer, bespoke gin, fine wine and tantalising cocktails, while two laneway stages will host a line-up of homegrown music acts. Throw in a host of market stalls, street performers and a dedicated kids zone, and you’ve got all the makings of a great day out.

Teneriffe Festival will take place on Saturday October 23 – stay tuned for more info closer to the date!
