Gerard’s Bistro will once again host one of the most renowned voices in Japanese cuisine for a five-course banquet paired with wine and sake.

Don’t miss your chance to meet cookbook author, food journalist and champion of Japanese artisanal ingredients Nancy Singleton Hachisu at her very special dinner event, Tastes of Japan. Held in the cosy confines of Gerard’s Bistro on Thursday June 6, the intimate feast will celebrate the delectable plant-based recipes featured in her tome Japan: The Cookbook. Featuring more than 400 authentic dishes reflecting 1970s and ’80s Japanese cuisine, the book teaches home-chefs how to craft their own traditional noodles, soups, pickled vegetables and more.

The Tastes of Japan banquet curated by Nancy will kick off at 6:30 pm, navigating five vibrant vegetable-focused courses along with the option of paired wines and organic, naturally brewed sake. Masaru Terada from Terada Honke, a sake brewery that has been operating in the Chiba prefecture for more than 300 years, will also be on hand to share his wisdom. Nancy, a native Californian and Stanford graduate, has been living with her Japanese husband on an organic farm in rural Saitama since 1988 and is the author of three cookbooks on Japanese cuisine. She will collaborate with Gerard’s Bistro’s new executive chef Adam Wolfers to present a memorable dinner event celebrating tradition, technique and produce. Copies of Nancy’s cookbook will be available for purchase on the night, which you can have signed by the author herself. Tickets are $90 pp (for banquet only) or $140 pp (with wine pairing) and bookings are essential – secure your place here.
