Taro’s Ramen unveils flashy new digs at 480 Queen Street

One of Brisbane’s most renowned ramen joints has opened its brand new location in the heart of the CBD, taking up residence on level two of the new 480 Queen Street development. Expect Taro’s Ramen to offer its classic hits plus a range of tapas-style bites sure to satisfy.

We’ve discussed at length the pure joy that comes with tucking in to a warm bowl of noodle soup, and Taro’s Ramen is always one of the first names we mention for best ramen in town. In August 2015, Taro’s Ramen closed up its long-running Adelaide Street location after the building was scheduled for redevelopment, thankfully finding a temporary haven on Edward Street to complement its popular izakaya-style Ascot location. After a year of anticipation, this week marks the opening of a new permanent location in the city at 480 Queen Street. Sitting near the development’s new food court eateries, the corner space follows closely to the aesthetic of previous incarnations – food first, design second. The minimalistic fit out features warm timber furniture and an eye-catching feature wall, with further flourishes to be added over the next couple of weeks. Near the kitchen is a window to the noodle room, from which patrons can catch some ramen theatre as the chefs whip up everything on site.

Taro’s Ramen at 480 Queen Street offers lunch and dinner sittings, limiting the daytime menu to facilitate speedy service to busy workers. Despite this, eight of Taro’s classic ramen choices will be available at lunch, as will popular sides such as chicken karaage and pork gyoza. At dinner, miso ramen becomes available as does the Bangalow sweet pork shabu shabu hot pot and bites such as cold tofu, soft shell crab and pork char siu. Liquor service will be coming in the near future, with a popular range of beer and sake to complement the food offering. The Edward Street location will continue running until the end of the year, serving up its condensed menu of Taro’s dishes near Central Station.
