Pour your own beer at taps in Fortitude Valley

After a successful run at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, taps has now brought its self-serve approach to Brunswick Street.

Pouring your own beer in the buzzing atmosphere of an inner-city bar may have been something local beer lovers have only ever dreamed of, but just last weekend a new player emerged on the scene, bringing promises of self-serve beer and excellent pub grub. Local craft ales are flowing from eight pour-it-yourself taps at the front of the bar, while an additional four tables also boast the luxury of their own dual taps.

Inspired by a memorable drinking experience at Oktoberfest, taps has been successfully quenching thirsts on the Sunshine Coast for almost two years. The new sibling bar, located in the Brunswick Street Mall where NY Brew Company once stood, is bringing the Mooloolaba venue’s drawcards of Jenga, boardgames, live bands and DJs to Fortitude Valley. Choose from a rotating line-up of local craft beer, ginger beer and cider, which currently includes the likes of All Inn Brewing Co.’s Ruby Amber Ale, Green Beacon Brewing’s 3 Bolt Pale Ale and Fortitude Brewing Company’s Original Golden Ale. If you’d rather have an expert pour the beer for you, or your palate is craving a different beverage, head to the bar at the back of the venue. The kitchen is dishing up the perfect pub grub to complement the beer in hand, from loaded potato skins and mac ‘n’ cheese spring rolls to Philly cheesesteak pizza and sliders. Those in the mood for dessert can test their palates on the Mars Bar spring rolls or Nutella and marshmallow pizza.
