In a perfect world, we’d have spent the weekend just gone gallivanting around South Bank, devouring artisanal pantry goods, cheeses, craft spirits, chocolates and morsels from local restaurants. Alas, it was not to be – the weather flushed away our chance to savour some of the state’s best produce at Regional Flavours this year. While it’s easy to get down about our recent run of horrible weather (and luck), the crew behind the food festival is looking at the silver lining. The organisers have transformed the Regional Flavours website into a portal listing the stallholders and local businesses now laden with too much stock. These portals link directly to each businesses website in order to encourage folks to order from each company directly and help them gain a bit of the revenue they’d expect if the festival had gone ahead.

The portal is divided into two categories – producers and local talent. The first is where you can find goodies from local makers and eateries, everything from Winston Quinn gin, Olsson’s Salts, Goose on the Loose Premium Salami and Barambah Organics to South Bank’s restaurants including The Jetty, Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers and Ahmet’s Turkish Restaurant. Click the latter category and you’ll find a list of chefs and musicians that were booked to attend and perform. You’ll spy links to book a tables at venues like Rosmarino, Paper Daisy, Golden Pig Restaurant and more, or stream some tunes from the likes of Jack Carty, Pocketlove and Andrea Kirwin.
