Suki brings its bowls and burritos to Bulimba’s Oxford Street

Only a few short months after making a splash with its first South Bank location, Suki is going two-for-two with its new colourful hub in the heart of Bulimba. Brisbane’s favourite destination for Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls and sushi burritos has opened on Oxford Street, bringing its range of flavoursome and fun fare that has been causing a foodie frenzy across town all year.

If you haven’t heard the word poke (pronounced poh-kay) this year, then you must have spent the past six months hitting the snooze button. Seafood bowls are one of the buzziest food trends to sweep through the United States in recent memory, but don’t get it twisted – poke is far from a fad, it’s been around for years. Traditionally a popular dish from the isles of Hawaii, poke is a blend of raw and marinated fish (typically tuna, salmon or kingfish) that is paired with a mixture of fresh and colourful ingredients. When Suki opened the doors to its first location in April, it unveiled its signature style of poke served with a Japanese twist. In addition to the seafood bowls, Suki also serves up a range of Instagram-worthy sushi burritos, boasting a range of proteins such as sashimi, chicken or pork wrapped in your choice of bamboo rice, brown rice, quinoa and kale.

Now that you are up to speed on Suki’s smashing selection of food, it’s time to pay it’s newest addition a visit. The new Bulimba location is nestled within a corner location on Oxford Street in the space formerly occupied by Cafe Citrus. The colourful venue boasts seating indoor and outdoor seating for upwards of 60 patrons, but it’s Suki tailor-made ordering counter (with loads of fresh ingredients neatly arrayed) that draws the eye. Swing by for lunch or dinner and ‘uhm’ and ‘ah’ over the bevy of choices. Need a suggestion or two? We recommend grabbing a chicken katsu sushi burrito with pickled daikon and snow peas, a salmon poke bowl with radish, red onion, edamame, cucumber and avocado, or the special pineapple poke, which comes topped with fresh pineapple chunks. For those with a thirst, Suki keeps the healthy vibes going with drinks from Lo Bros Kombucha and Perkii Probiotic Water.

Suki Bulimba is open and is slinging seafood bowls and sushi burritos left, right and centre. Check out Suki in the Stumble Guide for opening hours and contact information.
