Breakfast Creek rum bar turns distillery with Substation no. 41 Rum

Nestled in a renovated electricity substation next to the Breakfast Creek Hotel, Substation no. 41 has released its first batch of craft rum made on site.

Home to more than 500 rums, Substation no. 41 has long been the destination for rum fans and curious bar hoppers. The brains behind the bar, Stuart and Simon Griffith dreamed of owning their own premium rum brand, and sought to create a blend that could sit proudly beside the world’s best. After pooling their respective knowledge of rum, the team created a blend that suited Australian palates and reflected the history of the Breakfast Creek Hotel and the rum’s namesake, Substation no. 41.

Made from sugarcane molasses, Substation no. 41 rum is aged for two years in oak barrels and boasts fragrant aromas and hints of toffee, orange blossom, honeysuckle and butterscotch. The golden dark rum is reportedly great neat, mixed with ginger beer or in a cocktail. Punters can find the rum at Substation no. 41 or can buy a bottle for home consumption at Dan Murphy’s bottle shops.
