Stone and Wood gets ready to pour its new 2015 Stone Beer
Grab your pint glasses – after five weeks brewing in the tank, Stone & Wood’s Stone Beer is ready for consumption.
Stone & Wood is one of Australia’s finest and most popular craft beers. The Byron Bay-based brewery is not one to shy away from experimenting, offering up several limited edition flavours throughout the year. Stone’s Brew Day in March saw the beginning of the brewing process of Stone & Wood’s newest limited edition flavour the Stone Beer. As a tribute to traditional brewing techniques used before electricity, Stone Beer is made by adding wood fired stones to the brewing kettle to intensify malt flavours of the brew, causing it to boil and create a heartier beer that is perfect for the winter months.
The Stone Beer is a rich and complex brew with 11 different malt types in the mix. Flavours such as Vienna, chocolate wheat and caramelised malts are contrasted with dark fruits and toasted nuts as well as Hallertau Hersbrucker hops.
