Long live the Tequila Queen – Stone & Wood’s new margarita beer takes the throne

Following cries for the return of the hugely popular Killer Kween sip (a raspberry Berliner Weisse that stole the hearts of beer drinkers the state over), Stone & Wood’s Counter Culture has released a new matriarch beer to rule the kingdom of brews. Please give a royal welcome to Tequila Queen, an oak-aged margarita sour with a Mexican twist. If you want a taste from the queen’s goblet, you’d better be quick as her majesty will sit on the throne for a limited time only. Trust us, she’s worthy of wearing the crown.

Stone & Wood’s Counter Culture brand releases a new and exciting brew every 10 weeks or so, after which they disappear from the realm forever. The eighth addition to be crowned in this range is Tequila Queen – a refreshing and flavourful margarita-inspired beer that dropped on Monday August 10. This imperial tipple is brewed with lime juice, lactobacillus, salt, Cointreau and 50 litres of premium small-batch Arette Tequila (produced on the edge of the ancient volcano that rises above Tequila, a town in Mexico), and hopped with Galaxy and aged with oak. This Mexican monarch will remind you and your tastebuds of salt-rimmed margaritas and days spent on the beach soaking up the sun.

For a limited time only, Tequila Queen will be sold in packs of two 500-ml cans online, as well in selected bottle shops and on tap at the Stone & Wood brewery in Fortitude Valley. After 10 weeks this lovely lady will bow down and make way for her successor, so we recommend making haste to secure a taste-test before she escapes the castle. To purchase a pack of this royally good margarita sour while she’s still reigning, head to the Stone & Wood website.
