Harvest opens Sparrow coffee in Bangalow
The rich smells of freshly pulled espresso and masterful sweet and savoury concoctions fill the hole-in-the-wall confines of Bangalow’s newest foodie destination Sparrow, offering locals both ready-made lunchboxes and plenty of fresh offerings to savour at a slower pace.
Brought to you by the founders of Newrybar’s cornerstone cafe Harvest, Sparrow follows the same slow food principles with an abundance of farm-fresh produce and specialty coffee on offer. Organic seasonal produce is used across its breakfast and lunch menu, with steaming loaves of bread sourced from Harvest’s early 1900s bakery. With such an emphasis on fresh and local, the menu will inevitably change often, depending on the season’s harvest and availability.
The tiny cafe is currently stocked with all your perennial favourites including chocolate croissants, peach, almond and ricotta muffins, and lunchboxes filled with the likes of smoked chicken, sweet slaw, curry leaf and pearl barley salad. The new Bangalow locale uses Allpress coffee, and an intriguing speciality is a cup made on coconut milk – a coffee for the curious and inquisitive-minded. The choice between sweet indulgences is tricky, with organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free cupcakes on offer in flavours of salted chocolate with cacao nibs, apple, cinnamon and caramel, and banana berry.
