Newstead’s Spanakopita opens for breakfast
Makers of glorious parcels of spinach and cheese, Spanakopita in Newstead is now open for breakfast. Switching its flaky filo pastry options to the sweet side of things of a morning, try the vanilla bean curd-filled Bougatsa dusted in icing sugar.
Greek yoghurt servings include toppings of poached fruit and toasted almond flakes or Attiki thyme honey, toasted walnuts and koulouri, while warm slices of sourdough can be spread with homemade jams or poached fig preserve and mizithra cheese.
Those who can’t go past eggs in the early hours are even catered for with the Horiatiko Breakfast, which includes two Junabee Farm free-range boiled eggs, sourdough toast, kasseri cheese and kalamata olives. Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 8:00 am for breakfast, Spanakopita lets you start the day with a slice of Mediterranean summer on your mind.
