Enjoy an Italian aperitivo with an Australian twist courtesy of Sofi Spritz
Sofi is a chic variation of the classic wine spritzer based on a Mediterranean recipe but using all Australian products.
Crafted by fifth-generation winemakers, Sofi Spritz is a bold and refreshing take on the Veneto Spritz from Italy. Using riesling from South Australia’s Limestone Coast and citrus from Mildura, Sofi has decreased the sweetness of the traditional spritzer and added a greater range of flavours to the palate. To balance the tartness of blood orange citrus, bitters and the riesling grapes, Sofi blends natural sugars and high-quality sparkling water into the mix.
Originating as a small-scale operation distributing at farmers markets, Sofi used a Pozible campaign to scale up its operations and successfully earned a distribution contract with Dan Murphy’s. Sofi recently crowd-funded its next project, a new flavour of Sofi Spritz. Two new flavours were proposed with the decision decided by a customer vote – the Hugo made with white wine, lemon, elderflower and mint or the Clerico, which boasts white wine, cranberry, grapefruit and other citrus flavours to create a sangria-like beverage. The popular vote went to the Hugo, which has been set for a tentative release in time for spring. Until then you can find Sofi Spritz at every Dan Murphy’s store or at local cafes such as Buzz Bistro, Tall Short Espresso & Bar and Habitat.
