Fall in love with food (again) at Sisco, Spring Hill

If you’re not already hooked on the beauty of a fresh, homemade breakfast that’s made with love, served without pretention and doesn’t cause a dent in your pocket, then step inside Sisco at Spring Hill for your first fix.

Imbued with a friendly, quaint ambience, Sisco is a renowned breakfast haven for Boundary Street denizens, with its dedication to creating simple, delicious meals within a melodic, chatter-filled atmosphere. Owners (and sisters) Kelly and Vic delight in learning their customers’ names and favourite orders, happily joining in for quick chats when the pace slows for a moment. A recently refurbed interior means this narrow nook seems larger, with more tables and communal dining set against white brick and chalkboard walls.

The menu is the kind that makes decisions difficult, with the generous Sticky Honey Balsamic Mushrooms served with goats chevre and crusty bread competing with the refreshing Avocado, Buffalo Mozzarella & Lightly Roasted Grape Tomatoes with basil and evoo on organic sourdough. But the dish that catches many an eye is the French Toast made with gluten-free Deeks quinoa bread, sticky lemon and blueberry compote, creme fraiche and maple syrup. Take a spot under the hanging ferns and watch the street buzz to life or sit and chat for hours inside while the intricately flavoured homemade sweets bursting from the cabinet tempt a take-home treat.
