Sichuan Bang Bang and Pizzeria Violetta arrive in Paddington
Kenmore locals have been fortunate enough to boast two of Brisbane’s best eateries in their back yard, and now Paddington is getting in on the action. Both Sichuan Bang Bang and Pizzeria Violetta have debuted a new location on Given Terrace this week, offering diners two new options with stellar selections.
Brisbane’s foodie trendsetter Renata Roberts funnelled her experiences travelling the world into two vibrant food projects, Sichuan Bang Bang and Pizzeria Violetta – both located in Kenmore. Each eatery became huge successes thanks to Renata’s conscientious approach to providing Chinese and Italian cuisine made with quality ingredients by experienced chefs, combined with expert service. The news of a second location for both eateries coming to Paddington caused a lot of excitement for locals (and a few extra tummy rumbles) when it was announced in early 2016, and now both Sichuan Bang Bang and Pizzeria Violetta have opened in a combined space on Given Terrace, a short walk from Suncorp Stadium. The venue is divided into two distinct areas, one for those after authentic Chinese eats and those keen for a slice of wood-fired pizza. The walls of Sichuan Bang Bang are adorned with art from Kellie O’Dempsey, and an ornate paper dragon (affectionally named Madame Pearl Bang Bang Chang) designed by Sai Wai Foo hangs from the ceiling, while Pizzeria Violetta patrons can admire the imported pizza oven, which dominates the kitchen.
The menu has been copied over from the Kenmore locations, with a few new additions added by Renata and executive chef Phoebe Cleland. Alongside primo white and red pizzas fresh from the Stefano Ferrara-designed wood-fire oven, Pizzeria Violetta patrons can enjoy pastas, mains such as spatchcock saltimbucca and slow-braised lamb, and desserts including churros with expresso chocolate sauce and homemade tiramisu. Sichuan Bang Bang also boasts a new bottomless yum cha menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in addition to its selection of authentic Chinese dishes such as chow mein crunchy noodles with Kung Pao chilli chicken and Peking duck pancakes. On Saturdays and Sundays, Pizzeria Violetta will open from 7:00 am to 3:00pm and will serve wood-fired Mediterranean breakfast as Benzina. As with Kenmore, both eateries boast Chinese and Italian staff in the kitchen and working the floor, ensuring that that proper care is taken bringing both cuisines to life.
