Replenish your produce supplies at the Sharon from Stanthorpe market stall

Stanthorpe is in the heart of the Granite Belt and is generally known for its big sky panoramas, beautiful countryside and prehistoric granite boulders. Thanks to its unique microclimate and granitic soil, the region is also highly recognised for its diversity of farming produce. Sharon from Stanthorpe is one such farmer who makes the drive to Brisbane each weekend to share the region’s wonderful produce with us at the markets.

The great thing about meeting Sharon from Stanthorpe at the Moggill Markets or The Gap Farmers Market is that she is actually the farmer. She tends to her crops just like she looks after her own children, so she can share their stories. She is passionate about being a farmer at the markets, about her fresh produce, and the produce of her local community that she presents alongside her own at her market stall.

Sharon’s 88-acre farm is at Severnlea, an area of Stanthorpe, and it is there that she and her family work their magic growing seasonal produce including snow peas, tomatoes, pumpkins, apples, watermelons, rockmelons, zucchinis and salad mixes. Added to this, by her local community of farmers, are cauliflowers, eggplants, carrots, brussel sprouts and whatever else is in season. She also represents some 100% certified-organic vegetable farmers offering their artichokes, asparagus, spring onions and baby turnips. And recently she has had the vibrant colours of the new seasons peaches, nectarines and apricots donning her stall’s tabletops. But not for long – these sweet babies are being snapped up quickly. So head down to the markets and take home a pile of Stanthorpe produce.

If you are ever in Stanthorpe, Sharon welcomes you to come and say hello to her at the farm.
