Shake The Village, Woolloongabba

Head to the Shake The Village street party at Woolloongabba

Favourite vintage and foodie hub The Gabba Village is hosting a street party this weekend, embracing tunes from the swinging 1950s and serving up an array of local fare.

Shake The Village will see the umbrella-lantern-clad antique precinct dowsed in the sounds of rock and roll this Saturday June 29, with local filly-billy band The Sugarshakers performing live from 6:00 pm and swing dancers encouraging people to embrace their two left feet.

The bars and restaurants of the Logan Road quarter will be open for regular trade, with eating options also cascading on to the street with food stalls. Steamed dumplings will be serving its lacey Chinese pods, Stella May Fine Foods will have warm soups and Cup Coffee will be on hand for your late-night espresso. Canvas will be open late serving up 1950s-inspired drinks such as Mai Tai, Singapore Sling, Martini and Tom Collins cocktails. On the shopping front, That Shop, Absolutely Fabulous and Jamieson’s Home & Fashion will be trading late, while My Vintage Store, Vintage Hippie and August Moon will have street stalls. Mosey about the cul-de-sac sampling from each stall, or reserve a table at one of the restaurants and revel in the frivolity of this special occasion. This free event starts at 5:00 pm running until 9:00 pm.
