Yeronga welcomed this bright and bubbly new eatery to its midst in early February 2016, which has quickly established itself as a premiere community hub with top-notch nosh.

When Kylie and Gavin Bartholomew sold their stake in Home Cafe in Ashgrove, it was too seek greener pastures that afforded them more space to spread their wings and get creative with new flavours and ideas. With Seven South, the couple aimed to build on what they had accomplished in Ashgrove, seeking a licensed spot where they could offer more room and greater variety in the menu offering, while still fostering a strong community vibe complemented by friendly service. After taking over the spot formerly occupied by The Hideaway in Yeronga, Kylie and Gavin immediately set about overhauling the space – transforming the walls from black to white, adding live plants, new light fixtures, new furniture and bar top as well as a feature wall to create an airy and inviting space.

The duo brought on board Sam Potter to helm the kitchen, collaborating on a menu that boasted premium ingredients, fresh flavours and stunning presentation. Seven South offers breakfast and lunch every day, with a dinner service taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The breakfast menu boasts classics served with a twist, such as herb smashed avocado with goat’s feta and spiced pepitas on pumpkin bread, as well as char-grilled seasonal greens, lemon thyme blueberry and ricotta hot cakes and porcini sformato with sautéed mushrooms. The lunch offering encompasses items such as wagyu burgers, potato gnocchi with pancetta and clams, duck salad and beer battered whiting. Dinner guests are treated to a menu of roast chicken terrine, sumac spiced lamb rump or a smoky bourbon and maple glazed beef ribs to share. Bar snacks and kids meals are also available, and the kitchen will gladly cater to gluten-free and vegan eaters upon request. The bar stocks a range of premium wines from Australia and abroad, as well as local craft beer on tap and a tailored range of cocktails. Seven South is dog-friendly and visitors are encouraged to linger with a laptop and a coffee or grab a scone and a Dramanti coffee to go.
