Add some zing to your dish with Sasakani Kobo organic miso

When you hear the word ‘miso’, you picture a piping hot bowl of soup, right? Well, you’re about to find out that this Japanese seasoning is a lot more versatile than you think.

Based right here in Brisbane, Sasakani Kobo is quickly gaining prominence in the local culinary sphere for its quality, organic miso products. An essential part of the Japanese diet since the eighth century, miso is made by fermenting soybeans with salt and culture (Koji). The result? A thick, protein-rich paste, bursting with flavour and possibilities – not to mention vitamins and minerals. And while it’s best known for its use in soup, miso paste also makes the perfect addition to salads, mashed potato and stir fries, and works a treat as a steak topper or marinade.

Although Sasakani Kobo focuses mainly on commercial sales to stores and restaurants, they do offer a range of products that you can order online and pick up from their base in George St. Head to their virtual store to check out the range of miso pastes, tasting sets, dressings and condiments.

Want to learn how to make your own miso at home? Sign up for a miso making workshop, where you’ll learn the tricks of the trade and, at the end, have your very own batch of miso to take home and ferment.
