Wilston’s Kedron Brook Road dining strip scored a warm and welcoming new eatery in April when SALT Dining & Lounge Bar opened its doors. Owner and youth mentor Danni Suriano has sought to establish a safe place where people can come together over good food and positive vibes. In addition to a menu of inclusive fare, SALT Dining & Lounge Bar is also specialising in decadent desserts and inventive cocktails, injecting some action into the area’s nightlife.

Danni Suriano’s hospitality journey began over two years ago, when she took on Headquarters Cafe and Grill in the heart of the Roma Street Parklands. Although a relative novice to the industry, Danni instilled her passion for people into the core of the venue’s ethos, making it a popular haunt for those that put great service in high regard. Danni’s second hospitality venture, Wilston’s SALT Dining & Lounge Bar continues this trend, but now Danni is putting her newfound experience to good use, establishing a wholesome hub that celebrates food and community in equal measure. The space sits in the spot once occupied by American-style eatery NoHo Bar & Grill, but Danni has spruced up the joint by revitalising the outdoor dining area, implementing a smart industrial vibe for the interior and overhauling the bar.

SALT Dining & Lounge Bar’s menu includes breakfast on the weekends and lunch and dinner throughout the week. As Wilston’s brunch scene is booming, Danni has sought to bring some different kinds of fare for early risers, including red-velvet pancakes, waffles, vegan-friendly big breakfasts and barista-poured Mocopan Coffee. For the rest of the menu, variety is key. Danni believes that life is better shared, so SALT’s menu is chock-full of share plates perfect for sampling a bit of everything with a group of pals. Platters stacked with the likes of olives, dips, chips, bread and salt-and-pepper squid are available alongside deconstructed taco boards, giant burgers, chicken wings and a host of mains. Those with a hankering for something sweet can also savour dessert share boards, or get their sugary fix with some truly decadent cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, SALT is serving up some wickedly delightful sips, including off-the-wall spins on the classics and some inventive signature concoctions.

Also of note, SALT Dining and Lounge Bar has given over its walls to host artwork from locals artists, and will host exhibitions on a monthly basis. Danni is an ardent supporter of Fighters Against Child Abuse Australia, and lists SALT as a safe refuge where victims of abuse can seek food and shelter if needed.
