Rogue Bar + Bistro, Newstead

Rogue Bar + Bistro opens in Newstead

A normally sparse area for food offerings, the backstreets of Newstead welcome a new resident as Rogue Bar + Bistro is expected to open its doors next week. Covering all dining bases, Rogue Bar + Bistro combines restaurant-type seating and a bar area inside, with relaxed casual dining out the front and a laneway of couches for reclining with a coffee or drop of wine.

The creation of chef-owner Daniel Myers – who has worked under The Jetty’s Jason Coats – Rogue is clean, minimal and sharp in design, combining a refined palette of black, white and wooden tones. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Rogue aims to merge gourmet-quality fare in a relaxed atmosphere.

Breakfast sees the likes of the Mince Pot with fried eggs, avocado salsa, creme fraiche and toasted soldiers grace tables, while share plates of Pan-Seared Scallops with sweet corn salsa and citrus pesto appear from lunchtime. At dinner, mains are described by the featured animal (or vegetable), with sides available individually or in sets of three to share. Sample the likes of Pork Belly with honey-glazed baby veggies, crackling and mustard cream at dinner, followed by the Banoffee Pie of puff pastry, caramel, caramelised banana, vanilla cream and chocolate gravel for dessert. Daniel also encourages split bills, making dining in groups easy.

With final touches being made to the space over the weekend, Rogue Bar + Bistro will (fingers crossed) be open mid-next week.
