Riverbar & Kitchen aces summer with Australian Open-inspired Peroni Italia pop-up
Not only is summer the season for sun-soaked beach trips, breezy picnics and sizzling barbecues, it’s also the season for tennis. The Australian Open will be taking place throughout most of February and to celebrate, Riverbar & Kitchen is hosting a swish pop-up in collaboration with Peroni Italia. With Italian-inspired cocktails and snacks, draught Peroni by the pint and a big screen to catch all the Australian Open action, this pop-up is shaping up to be as good as sitting court-side.
Scorching serves, big swings, vicious volleys and relentless rallies – few sports boast as much edge-of-your-seat action as tennis. There are only so many break-point nail-biters we can handle, but Riverbar & Kitchen has come up with a great way to take the edge of the tense tiebreakers and heartbreaking upsets sure to occur in this year’s Australian Open. The riverside cocktail bar has partnered up with Peroni Italia for a month-long pop-up, pairing Italian aperitivo culture with one of the summer’s biggest sporting events.
The Riverbar & Kitchen x Peroni Italia pop-up officially kicked off on Wednesday January 27, but from Monday February 1 until Sunday February 28 the neighbouring outdoor plaza will be reimagined with umbrellas, eye-catching bar carts, Amalfi-inspired decor and a giant screen – making Eagle Street a must-visit hub for fans of life-sized ping-pong. Those popping in for an afternoon sip or an evening nightcap can slurp down Italian-inspired cocktails including the Venetian Twist (Belvedere Vodka, Aperol, grapefruit, passionfruit and yuzu), jugs of Aperol, orange, Peroni and lemonade punch, as well as plenty of Peroni beer off tap or in the bottle. A summery snack menu features kingfish ceviche with citrus and pink peppercorn, mushroom arancini with tomato relish, and prosciutto, melon, tomato and bocconcini skewers – not a bad spread to accompany some on-court action!
Riverbar & Kitchen and Peroni Italia’s summer pop-up will be running until the end of February. Hit the event guide for more info.
