Indulge your appetite at Regional Flavours
Celebrity chefs, industry experts and more than 80 of the state’s finest growers and providores will all be heading to South Bank this weekend for a grand celebration of food and wine.
If you’ve got plans for this Saturday July 18 or Sunday July 19, scrap them. The only thing that should be on the to-do list is strolling through the South Bank Parklands, inspiring your inner foodie with plenty of free cooking demonstrations, taste testings and market stalls at this year’s Regional Flavours Presented by The Courier-Mail. EAT-SHOW-TELL will see your favourite culinary geniuses imparting their knowledge on the mainstage, with four daily demonstrations from Miguel Maestre, fuss-free cooking tips from Matt Preston and locavore lifestyle advice from Paul West. The Producer Showcase is another key festival highlight, which will offer up a massive range of fresh produce and artisan food products from food producers, growers, winemakers and restaurants around the state.
The Hunting Club will return with promises of perfectly cooked brisket and boutique beers, while the brand-new Picnic Patch will offer up a menu inspired by fresh produce from the Lockyer Valley Region in an outdoor setting. River Cottage Australia will be helping Brisbane locals appreciate the joys of sustainable farming in the Epicurious Garden, while South Bank favourites like Bourbon Street and The Charming Squire will be joining the eatSouthBank food truck fleet on Little Stanley Street. Kick back at Queensland Taste with a glass of wine and a wedge of cheese as City Sounds brings you live music from local musicians. If thoughts of Zumbarons, doughnuts and cupcakes get you salivating, don’t miss the Sweet Escape area, where Adriano Zumbo will be sharing his cooking secrets. Let the kids immerse themselves in cooking experiments, gardening and craft at Little Days Out, and make sure you take your favourite cookbook down to the Celebrity Book Signing area to meet the likes of Lola Berry and Adam Liaw. When you need a quiet escape from all the festival activity, take a wander down to River Quay for a riverside culinary indulgence.
Regional Flavours will operate from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday July 18 and Sunday July 19, and entry is free. Browse the program and scan the festival map online.
