Raw World Company teams up with PNG cacao farmers for divine chocolate range

Known for its range of healthy and nutritional snack foods and sustainably sourced coffee capsules, Raw World Company is adding to its product portfolio with a range of dark-chocolate bars. The company is working with local farmers in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea, aiming to empower them and ensure a sustainable economic future for the local cacao industry.

The folks at Raw World Company (RWC) are all about healthy and responsible living. Making and distributing organic and grass-fed products is its MO, but in addition to this, the company also looks to ethically source its goods through direct trade with communities in Papua New Guinea. RWC’s biodegradable and compostable coffee capsules sources its coffee from family-owned operations in the country’s eastern highlands, and now the company is unveiling a range of artisan chocolate bars made from cacao harvested by farmers in Bougainville. The region’s agricultural sector has been decimated by decades of civil unrest and an epidemic of cacao-eating pests, and now RWC’s ventures aim to aid the region’s rehabilitative journey and return to economic prosperity.

RWC has teamed up with Soroken Plantation on the chocolate range, drawing from 108,000 trees and over 500 small-block holders for the raw product. RWC also facilitates quality control workshops to further enhance farmer’s skills and help them obtain full value on their product in the world market. Renowned bean-to-bar chocolate maker Trevor Smith from Metiisto Artisan Chocolate has been recruited to harness the raw cacao and turn it into top-tier chocolate. Two lines have been released to the public so far – a 70% dark-chocolate bar and a 55% dark milk-chocolate bar. Plans are in the works for three more cacao-infused products – a coffee-infused chocolate bar using RWC’s single-origin Goroka espresso beans, toasted cacao nibs, and single-origin Goroka Peaberry coffee beans coated in luxurious Soroken dark chocolate. Head to Raw World Company’s website to purchase some bars for yourself.
