Taste the state's finest produce for Queensland Week

Taste the state’s finest produce for Queensland Week

To celebrate Queensland Week from May 30 to June 7, a collection of Brisbane restaurants will be showcasing the best produce that the state has to offer.

Celebrating the anniversary of Queensland becoming an independent state on June 6 1859, Queensland Week honours all of the wonderful things that make our state such an incredible place to live. In Queensland we are blessed with some incredible produce, from the tropical fruit of North Queensland to the creamy cheeses and award-winning wine of the south-east region.

Showcasing the bounty of produce made and grown right here in Queensland, a number of Brisbane restaurants are joining in the campaign to paint the town maroon by offering up special dishes over the duration of Queensland Week. Brookfield’s Wild Canary will be plating up a beautiful peacan-fed free-range porchetta roast with grilled pear, rhubarb, turnip, fennel and quince. The pork comes from Allora, west of Brisbane, from pasture-raised pigs on Eggcettera farm. The pigs are supplement fed with pecan nuts, which gives the pork a distinct nutty flavour.

Boasting incredible views of the Story Bridge and the Brisbane River, Customs House is the perfect location to view the maroon glow of the bridge for the week. The Brisbane institution will be featuring a two-course menu with a glass of wine across for the duration of the celebrations, with dishes including Hervey Bay seared scallops with celeriac puree, apple and radish salad and black truffle vinaigrette, or sugar-cured South Burnett pork loin with soft parmesan polenta, wilted spinach and smoked bacon marmalade. Also getting involved are Citron, Julia’s Pantry, Moda, Putia Pure Food, Restaurant Two, The Regatta and Three Girls Skipping.
