Sip on nitro espresso martinis at Pourboy’s new Southpoint digs

It’s a brand new day – time for locals on the south side of the river to wake up and smell the coffee! Pourboy’s long-anticipated sibling is now open at Southpoint, operating as a warm and welcoming cafe through the day and a chic wine bar at night. If the sound of exquisite coffee and breakfast or charcuterie and top-shelf spirits quickens your pulse, then book yourself a date for a pour or four.

The worst-kept secret in town is that one of the best spots to get a sublime coffee in the inner city has long been Sebastian Butler-White’s Pourboy Espresso. Even while he has been kicking goals with his Wharf Street location Sebastian has been planning the next stage of Pourboy’s evolution, which has finally been realised with a brand-new cafe-come-wine bar at the base of Southpoint. Opening today – Thursday May 18 – Pourboy South Bank takes everything great about the Wharf Street location makes it bigger and better. Not content to simply dominate the coffee scene, Sebastian has installed a full kitchen and bar in the space – offering plenty of food, drink and room to move. A seriously impressive service counter boasts two high-tech espresso machines for speedy caffeine dispensing, ample room for specialty coffee prep, a dedicated space for grab-and-go fare, as well as room for beer (and nitro coffee) taps.

One of the big-ticket items on Sebastian’s wish list for Pourboy at South Bank was a bigger kitchen to play around with, and a bigger kitchen he received! Feel like tucking in to something hearty? Pourboy’s got you covered with a menu of great choices including its iconic reuben sandwich as well as a signature big breakfast of jamon, goats cheese and roasted tomato. If you only have time for a snack, the takeaway offering is stellar, with salads, sandwiches, breakfast paninis and more available for you to bite on the run. Once the sun sets on South Bank, Pourboy will turn into a chic wine bar with a charcuterie and share-plate selection on offer to nibble between sips of interesting and approachable wines, Australian gin and whisky, tap beer from Asahi, 4 Pines and Mountain Goat and cocktails including nitro espresso martinis.

Pourboy is open now! What are you waiting for, an invitation? Find opening hours and location details in the Stumble Guide.
