Celebrate life’s finest things at Portside Wharf’s Cheese and Champagne Pop-up

By now, dear reader, we’ve hopefully established that you and I are united by our undying love of cheese. So I’d like for you to imagine this scenario. It’s a balmy autumn afternoon. The sun is greeting your cheeks with a soft kiss, a cool breeze is floating past you and the gentle ebb and flow of the Brisbane River is luring you into a state of pure bliss. This, however, isn’t a regular autumn afternoon – this is the kind that dreams are made of. Because in this scenario my friend, you are surrounded by French cheese and bottles of Pol Roger champagne.

Guess what? On the weekend of March 4–5, you can make this dream scenario a reality. The heroes at Portside Wharf have decided to once again bring the good people of Brisbane a Cheese and Champagne Pop-up, showcasing the French delicacies we care for so dearly. Partnering with cheese expert Sharyn de Kort of The Cheese Pleaser and restaurant Gusto da Gianni, the pop-up will see three cheese hand-picked by Sharyn paired with champagne from renowned French producer Pol Roger.

From Saturday March 4 to Sunday March 5, you can head down to the riverfront to pick up a perfectly curated platter of three cheeses, paired with The Cheese Pleaser’s signature apple and walnut chutney. This year, Sharyn has selected three of her favourite French cheeses – the gooey double-cream Le Dauphin, the firm, supple and slightly nutty comte, and the moist and crumbly Bleu d’Auvergne. As the perfect accompaniment, Pol Roger will be served by the glass or bottle, alongside a selection of wines. If this isn’t quite French enough for you, you can top off your weekend with a special screening of Amélie at Dendy Portside at 4:00 pm on Sunday.
