Pod Espresso opens organic store in Stafford

They’ve only been running their cafe Pod Espresso since February this year, but when the space next door became available Rachel, Sally and Tess jumped at the opportunity to fast-forward their dreams of opening an organic store. What was an orthodontic practice next door is now a freshly painted enclave of organic, raw and earth-friendly products, which stands alone and acts as a supplier to the cafe.

At Pod Organics, find organic greens from a Mount Tamborine farmer, jams and sauces from Beth Larkin – who also has a stall at Northey Street City Farm Organic Markets – Brookfarm mueslis, Kialla flours and Earthwise cleaning products. Sourcing lots of locally made products, Tess could tell you the name and story of each producer and how their products have come to be in the store. Kelly from Paddington cafe Sassafras is stocking her relishes at Pod Organics, while jars of natural raw honey are produced from hives that have been moved out west to escape the pollution of the city.

You’ll also find the organic, raw, probiotic cold teas of another Northey Street market resident Buchi Kombucha in store, which is good for digestion and detoxifying. Or if a hot cuppa is more to your liking, try Tielka Australian organic, fairtrade teas from Melbourne or wild-crafted herbal infusion tea leaves, which are stored in tall jars for you to scoop out a desired amount.

Pod Organics will be open from at 8:00 am to allow local parents the opportunity to pop in on the way to school, picking up healthy, organic snacks to include in their kids’ lunchboxes. Pod Espresso next door is open from 6:30 am on Monday to Friday and from 7:30 am on Saturdays, serving coffee, light breakfasts, organic juices and sweet treats.
