Plaza Theatre Cafe opens for weekend brunch
We may be on our own in the campaign for ‘linner’, but brunch has most certainly won bellies across Brisbane. Sleep in, slow down and head on in to Paddington’s Plaza Theatre Cafe for a spot of brunch this weekend.
Paddington Antique Centre is a treasure trove of old-world finds and family heirlooms. But worm your way past the vintage purses and kitsch serving spoons, and you’ll stumble upon culinary gold at the Plaza Theatre Cafe. When the former theatre creaks open its ancient doors at 10:00 am every Saturday and Sunday, punters can now roll in for a hearty brunch feast including the likes of tomato, capsicum and onion sauce with poached eggs and crumbled fetta; a bacon, egg, avocado and tomato roll with relish and mayonnaise; or a mushroom and leek frittata with smoked salmon, lightly roasted cherry tomatoes and dill.
Spoon into fruit Bircher muesli crumble topped with poached apple, yoghurt and berries, and admire your charming surrounds as you sup on the Nero coffee blend from Vittoria. Owner Sandra Tilbury bakes and prepares all food on-site, rounding out the menu with a range of ribbon sandwiches, bagels and sweet treats.
